This time of the year sees the return of many dry season activities such as Mindil Beach Markets (from 29 April) and the Deckchair Cinema (from 21 April).

The first garden you can visit in this year’s Open Garden Scheme features a large range of cycads, succulents and bromeliads: the Dog and Donkey Garden at 35 Mahaffey Road, Howard Springs is open on 27 and 28 March. Then there are two gardens open in April: Hortus Nostrus at 49 Flockhart Drive, Marlow Lagoon on 10 and 11 April, and Buddha’s Bamboo at 4423 Goode Road, Humpty Doo on 24 and 25 April. In each case the gardens are open from 10am to 4.30 pm, and admission is $6 which is divided between the scheme’s running costs and a charity or local cause of the garden owner’s choice.
