Well this is the last Newsletter for 2009! I know we all say it, but I do not know where the time went, it went so quickly. However, we have had a good year. I think coming back to Casuarina Library has been a good move as we are very well looked after at the Library.

We only have one big gripe and that’s about the lighting in the meeting room. You can’t turn it down or off when you have a power point presentation, but we have spoken to management and supported it with a letter. We are not the only ones to complain but it shows you when changes are made, sometimes things slip though the cracks because no one thought of it.

We have had a broad range of speakers of late and they have been very interesting. I think that’s what I enjoy most about U3A is hearing about a topic I know little or nothing about it and it opens your eyes to a whole area of knowledge. I’m always grateful to members who offer names as possible speakers. Keep it up.

Now in this Newsletter we have tear off slips for a number of things. The Christmas Lunch needs to be returned by 12 November. The renewal of membership fees can be done up to March 2010, but the sooner the better.

Our final meeting will be on Thursday 10 December and we will resume in February. There will be a Newsletter sent to each member in late January with the up to date calendar.

To anyone who is unwell at home or in hospital, we wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you back at our meetings soon.

I know it’s early but, as this is the last Newsletter for the year, I will take the time to say thank you to all those who assist at meetings to make them run smoothly, to the Board members for all their support and participation in our many activities and last but not least to David Swift for his management of the production of the Newsletter.

And now I wish one and all a very Happy Christmas with family and friends and a prosperous New Year.
